Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate has introduced the Carrie Chapman Catt Award to recognize high schools across the state for their commitment to registering students to vote. Iowan Carrie Chapman Catt
was a national leader in the women's suffrage movement and helped secure the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution.
High Schools that register at least 90% of their eligible students (all seniors who are US citizens and at least 17 years old) will receive this distinguished award. Schools registering at least 50% of eligible students will receive statewide recognition and commendation.
